What is Canine Good Citizen?
Good Citizen is a skills test through the AKC (American Kennel Club) that certifies your dog is competent with different skills, has good manners, and shows that you are a responsible pet parent. This training recognizes you and your pup as good neighbors, friends, and members of society.
What does the Good Citizen Training teach?
The Good Citizen Training teaches your dog,
- To accept a friendly stranger
- Sitting politely for petting
- Going out for a walk
- Walking through a crowd
- Behavior during grooming
- Knowing commands “sit”, “down”, and “stay”
- Reacting to distractions
- Supervised separations
- Coming when called
I focus on fostering trust between you and your dog and teaching them desirable behaviors in a responsible and respectful way in preparation for you to take the AKC Good Citizen Test.
